Just a Bit About Me

My name is Angela. First and foremost, I am a mother to five wonderful children. We have four boys and one girl, ages 18, 16, 13, and 6 year old twins.

We are transplanted Texans, living in Highland Park, Illinois courtesy of the U.S. Navy. Being married to the military has its perks and its disadvantages, but for the most we tend to focus on the upside of military living.

My children are my life, simply stated. I do everything I can to enstill in my children the values, beliefs, and morality my parents handed down to me, sometimes feeling as though what I’m doing isn’t affecting them in any way. Then I witness, out of the corner of my eye, one of them doing something kind for someone, lending a helping hand, supplying a shoulder to cry on. It is then that I realize that they truly understand and I’m thankful.

My children each have their own special needs, ranging from ADHD and Autism to rare disorders and post-kidney tranplant.

Writing is my passion!  I utilize this skill as a means to inspire and counsel others, express my opinions, and put a voice to the thoughts and questions that clutter my mind on a daily basis.  If I don’t write them down, sort them out, and make sense out of them, my head will explode!  Alright that is stretching the truth a bit, but at least that’s how it feels.

Satirical humor, particularly sarcasm, have and always will be my coping mechanism.  My kids tell me I have this twisted ability to make even the most serious of situations funny.  What can I say?  It’s just the wicked way my mind works to deal with every day stress, and definitely not meant to offend.

If I do happen to offend someone with my written expression, please know that it is never intentional.  Feel free to email or comment on anything I write if you believe it to be offensive, and I will do my best to remedy the situation.
